Dawn Sweeney, Advertisement Director, Yorkshire Post Newspapers Ltd
Dawn Sweeney has worked within the business to business magazine and regional newspaper media for the last 24 years.
Her career started in her home town, at the Stafford Newslettter where she joined as an Advertising Telephone Sales Executive. Since that time Dawn has held a number of sales and sales management positions.
Prior to joining Yorkshire Post Newspapers in September 2004 as Advertisement Director Dawn had spent 13 years with the Birmingham Post & Mail, publishers of the Birmingham Post & Evening Mail newspapers.
Dawn’s role at Yorkshire Post Newspapers is to maximise the commercial potential of Yorkshire Post Newspapers print and on-line products and to develop the skills and full potential of the sales and sales management team within the business.
Dawn is a member of the Newspaper Society Advertising Action Team, a member of Leeds Chamber Council and is actively involved with the promotion of the Leeds Media scene as a board member of Leeds Media.
Dawn is married to Alec with two children, Connor, 15 and Megan, 9.
Emily Carrie
Emily Carrie is a determined businesswoman with extensive journalism, PR & marketing experience and excellent communication skills. Emily began her career as a radio journalist reading news bulletins on Galaxy Radio.
She moved to the role of Business Development Manager for the Business Women’s Breakfast Club in 2001 & was head-hunted through the network to become PR & Marketing Manager of Hazlewood Castle Hotel.
Following that Emily spent two years at Harrison Cowley, the largest independent PR agency in the UK. Here she worked on clients such as: The BBC, IPC Media, Land Rover and The National Training Awards.
After working at senior management level within the company, Emily left to set up her own agency, Promise PR & Design Ltd where she manages the PR, marketing, design & event management for a variety of customers specialising in the Human Resources & Recruitment Sector. Clients include Brightwater Executive Business Coaching, Catalyst PM, Shine and Rise and Helen Eccles Resourcing.
Emily regularly writes for local lifestyle & business magazines and has established relationships with journalists in the Yorkshire media, in particular at the Yorkshire Post.
She is an articulate presenter, she lectures to event management students at the Sheffield Hallam University, is a hugely talented writer and offers copywriting services to those businesses needing help producing effective promotional material.
Carol Scott
Carol Scott is the Head of Member Services of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the trade association representing the private recruitment industry in the UK. Her role involves directing and managing the provision of services including networking opportunities and information to members operating within 12 different industry sector groups and 12 regions of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
Carol spent the initial part of her career in the seventies and eighties running her own business, which provided temporary management solutions to the hospitality sector. She spent the next 17 years as a civil servant, primarily at HM Treasury, covering the full range of HR activities. Carol joined the REC in 2005, her first role was in the REC Professional Standards team managing the REC complaints function.
Steven Bonfield
Steven Bonfield is a Partner in Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors. He is Head of the Corporate/Commercial Department and specialises in Business Law. The Department works hand in hand with Employment Law specialists within the firm. Steven is based in the Huddersfield office, but travels regularly to Chadwick Lawrence’s other branches in Wakefield, Morley, Ossett, Dewsbury, and Halifax.
Steven qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and is a former National President of the British Junior Chamber. He was also President of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce in 2000.
Steven lives in Halifax with his wife Elizabeth and has one son, William. He enjoys playing golf and is a keen skier.
